As the first snow of the winter dusted the streets of Milan, rail transport was immediately plagued by cancellations and delays across Lombardy. The consumer association Altroconsumo has already reminded rail passengers that they have a right to compensation if their train is cancelled, or 30 minutes late.
Travellers can claim compensation of 25 per cent of the ticket price for Trenitalia’s Freccia services if the delay is between 30 and 59 minutes, and for the other long-distance services if the delay is between 60 and 119 minutes.
For all Trenitalia routes, Freccia or not, the compensation reaches 50 per cent of the ticket price if the delay is 120 minutes or more.
