Italy is giving away 103 castles, towers and monasteries for free, so if you would love to explore an Italian castle and live your own myth, today is you lucky day. The whole point of this initiative éis to actually boost tourism to the eight historic districts where those structures are located.
These districts run along the coastline and through the absolutely amazing countryside and going all the way down to Sicily…
Also many of these roots have a big historical value, such as the ancient route of Via Francigena or he Ciclovia VenTo which is ideal for hiking since it has a breathtaking scenery to admire.

If you want to take advantage of this opportunity, you’ll just have to submit a proposal via their website and describe your ideas about how you will make those locations the new international hotspot.

The application period is open until June 26 and they will prefer people under 40 years old. If you succeed, you will take the property rights for the building for 9 years.

But if you don’t, you don’t have to panic, because Italy’s Ministry of Tourism, is planning to include 200 more buildings during the next years in order to attract more visitors to those beautiful little villages.
